Who we are

Clem (“we”, “us”) is a digital closet app. This policy explains how we handle account data and Google user data when you use features such as Gmail receipt import.

Account information

When you create a Clem account we store your email and profile details you provide (for example first and last name) via our authentication provider (Supabase). Closet items, folders, wishlist entries, and related preferences you save may be stored in your browser (localStorage) and synced to our Supabase database so they persist across devices when you are signed in.

Google / Gmail access

If you choose Connect Gmail (Sign in with Google), Clem requests only the restricted scope gmail.readonly. We use this read-only access solely to search for and read shopping / fashion-brand emails that may contain clothing purchase or return receipts, so we can suggest items for your closet.

• We do not send email, delete messages, or modify your mailbox.
• We do not use Gmail data for advertising, selling personal data, or unrelated profiling.
• Short-lived Google OAuth access tokens (and your Gmail address for display) are stored in your browser’s localStorage under a Clem key so you can sync again until the token expires or you disconnect.

How receipt import works

After you connect, Clem fetches candidate emails (subject, from, snippet, and a truncated body excerpt) in your browser, then sends that email text to AI providers (currently Groq and/or Google Gemini, depending on configuration) to decide whether the message is a clothing receipt and to extract fields such as item name, brand, color, category, season, and price.

Parsed clothing items you approve may be saved to your closet in Clem (localStorage and, when signed in, Supabase). You review pending receipts in the Inbox before they become wardrobe pieces.

Email content is processed for this extraction purpose under Google’s Limited Use requirements for restricted Gmail scopes. We do not sell Gmail data, use it for ads, or use it to train generalized AI / ML models. Third-party AI providers process the text we send for extraction only under their respective terms; we do not use your Gmail content to train Clem’s own models.

Google Limited Use disclosure

Clem’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Disconnecting Google / Gmail

You can revoke Clem’s access at any time:

1. In Clem, open Inbox and tap Disconnect Gmail. This clears the stored token in your browser and attempts to revoke it with Google.
2. Or visit Google Account → Third-party access and remove Clem / the Clem Google Cloud OAuth client.

Disconnecting stops further Gmail reads. Closet items you already saved remain in your Clem account until you delete them.

Data retention

Gmail OAuth tokens are short-lived and removed on expiry, disconnect, or when you clear site data. Closet and account data remain until you delete items or close your account. Contact us if you need help deleting account data.
